White Nights (1985, U.S.A.)

Nikolai Rodchenko is a Russian ballet dancer who has defected to the West.  When a malfunction forces his plane to land in the U.S.S.R., the KGB try to keep him there.  They entrust dancer Raymond Greenwood to guard him, because he had defected from the U.S.A..  However they don’t realise that Raymond has become disillusioned with the East.

Nikolai plans to escape, and convinces Raymond to help him.

Artistic vision and political idealism collide as two great dancers make a decision that will change their lives forever.

The cast includes Gregory Hines, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Helen Mirren, Isabella Rosselini, Geraldine Page and John Glover.  White Nights also features an incredible soundtrack, including the music of Phil Collins and Lionel Ritchie.
