Year Of The Gun (1991, U.S.A.)

John Frankenheimer directs Andrew McCarthy and Sharon Stone in this exciting thriller.   Set in the late 1970s Rome, it focuses on a time of political unrest.  As an American journalist working in Italy, David Raybourne falls in love with a politically active lecturer.  To earn enough money to support her, he writes a fictional novel about the Italian terrorists, The Red Brigade.  At first he doesn’t realise that the plot of his book mirrors real plans to kidnap the Italian prime minister.  He soon learns that things aren’t what they seem.
