• Jamal Wallace (Brown) is a talented 16-year-old basketball player in New York City.  But his secret passion is writing. William Forrester (Connery) is a reclusive Pulitizer Prize-winning novelist who never wrote a second novel.  They meet and Forrester becomes Jamal’s unlikely mentor. While Jamal draws Forrester out of reclusion,  the novelist guides the young man to develop his exceptional skills.

Both men learn lessons from each other about life.  Above all, they learn the importance of friendship.
