Solid Gold Cadillac, The (1956, U.S.A.)

Academy Award® winner Judy Holliday (Born Yesterday) stars in this delightful comedy.  In The Solid Gold Cadillac, she’s a woman who challenges the fat cats of the business world.

Holliday plays Laura Partridge, a minor shareholder. When she goes to her first stockholder meeting, she causes a ruckus, asking about the salaries of the board of directors and questioning their decisions. The boards wants to keep her quiet, so they hire her and try to manipulate her. They ask Patridge to woo the former CEO, Edward McKeever (Paul Douglas) into awarding the company government contracts.

Eventually Laura realises that the only way to take down the crooked board is to firstly get the small stockholders together. Then secondly get McKeever back into the company.
