Swordsman, The (1948, U.S.A.)

Alexander MacArden (Larry Parks, The Jolson Story) returns to Scotland from school in England.  He is the descendant of a feuding Scottish clan.  He meets the beautiful niece of the rival Clan Glowan, Lady Barbara (a very young Ellen Drew). Of course, they fall deeply in love, despite their families’ generations-long hatred.  This only strengthens young MacArden’s resolve to bring an end to the barbaric warring of the clans. But MacArden’s charms and arguments seem wasted against the savage hostility of the Glowan Clan.

This swashbuckler is a Technicolor treat with beautiful costuming, including the distinct tartans of the clans to match the Scottish accents of the cast.
