Tempest (1982, U.S.A.)

This modern fantasy-drama is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous play of the same name.

This 80s film is about a New York architect Phillip (John Cassavetes).  He’s fed up with city life and having a mid life crises.  He therefore leaves his unfaithful wife and takes his daughter, Miranda (Molly Ringwald in her debut), to a remote island in Greece.  En route in Athens, he meets a singer (Susan Sarandon). They become lovers and she joins him on the Greek island.  Then there is a lone hermit already living on the island (Raul Julia).

However, his new life is his ex wife, her new lover Alonzo – and Phillip’s former boss – and his son arrive on the island after they are shipwrecked.
