Winslow Boy, The (1999, U.K./U.S.A.)

David Mamet’s adaptation of the WINSLOW BOY is a rich and complex telling of the British classic.

It centres around a banker’s family living in Victorian London and their legal challenge against the crown.  They are shocked when their son is accused of theft by the royal navy, and expelled as a result.  When he pleads his innocence, they fight to clear his name.

A respected lawyer agrees to represent the boy, however when the case becomes a national spectacle it threatens to split the family apart.
