Secret Window (2004, U.S.A.)

Academy Award® nominee Johnny Depp gives a great performance in this action/suspense thriller.  The superb supporting cast includes John Turturro, Maria Bello, Academy Award® winner Timothy Hutton and Charles S. Dutton.

Famed mystery writer Mort Rainey (Depp) has retreated to his remote lake house after a bitter divorce.  However a stranger named John Shooter ( Turturro)  shows up unannounced.  He accuses Rainey of copying his short story, and demands justice. When Shooter’s demands’ escalate, Rainey hires a private detective (Dutton) to help.

But when the horror spins out of control, Rainey soon realises that he can’t trust anyone or anything.
