It’s 1929, the dawn of the talkie era in Hollywood, and it’s not a given that the old silent stars will succeed in this new medium–including film cowboy Tom Mix (Bruce Willis).  He’s Hollywood’s hottest action hero and accepts the challenge to play legendary lawman Wyatt Earp in the first talking Western.  Earp himself (James Garner) is hired as a technical advisor on the film.  While he struggles with the world of movies, he and Mix become friends.  The pair become detectives as they try to solve a murder mystery which has wider implications than first thought.
